Song and Other Ceremonial Arts
In primal cultures, art and spirituality were not separate. Songs, dances, chants, poems, and ritual regalia—as well as everyday tools, clothing and dishes—expressed a reciprocal connection with the sacred land. Separation from the sacred is one of the most destructive characteristics of the currently dominant culture. When our creative expression, however simple, begins to resonate with the rhythms and beauties of the land, we can tap into Gaia’s huge, life-affirming energies, nourishing ourselves, our surroundings and one another.
